Can my students interact with students outside of their classroom?
When a class or school subscribes to the An Post Learning for Life website, the authorized admin for the class or school can choose the type of access their students will have. Student interaction with other students can be limited at specific levels:
- Class wide interaction
- School wide interaction
- School district interaction
- County, state or country wide interaction
- Unlimited interaction with all other subscribers showing open interaction
Are there links that lead off the BizLife Learning for Life website?
Yes, there are many links that lead to sites that are not part of the An Post Learning for Life website.
Your school’s firewall will prevent students from accessing outside sites, unless you give them access.
If you prefer, we can “turn off” those links so that they aren’t active at all. If you prefer this for your school, let us know and we’ll take care of it.
How do I find materials within the site that are applicable to what I am teaching?
We’ve centred the materials in the Pilot program around a flipped classroom approach, providing materials that can be worked through by the students before you begin the lessons in your classroom. To find materials in the program that are applicable to a Learning Outcome, you have several options. Uner the For teachers section of the site, you’ll find cross reference tables in the Quick Reference Guides, and a separate listing for each Learning Outcome’s resources within the site under Learning Outcome Overview section.
What are Ripples and Reflections?
At the end of every Lesson in the Pilot Program you’ll find a number of questions that you can assign to your students to help them think about the materials in ways that apply to themselves and their own experiences. Ripples, the multiple choice version of these, are typically a set of three questions with multiple answers, while Reflections are meant to be an opportunity for discussion or conversation. The reflections each contain one question which may be answered at any length, and you can assign any, all or none of Ripples and Reflections on each Lesson.
You’ll also find a Reflection or two on each Biz Log post, and Lessons have crosswords attached as well, just for fun and reinforcement of the concepts in the Lesson.
You’ll find the answers to each Ripple or Reflection in your Dashboard.
How do I assign materials to complete to the students?
Biz Life is a dip-in, dip-out program, so you can assign any materials to your students in any order you choose. Each Learning Outcome covered in this Pilot program has several lessons, including text based and video lessons. While the Learning Outcomes may be used in any order, we suggest working through the lessons within the Learning Outcome in order, but you may use them in any way you like. You’ll see the materials under each Learning Outcome number with the LO number in the title.
Can I access my students' work and projects?
Teachers or Group Leaders may access their students’ pages and work at anytime. Teachers have access to the students assigned to their group, and will find the work done by their students in the Dashboard found under the anpostlearning, com link at the top left hand corner of the site when logged in.
Where can I find answers to the Reflections I assign to students?
Students’s essay answers will be listed in your Dashboard under Course Management / Submitted Essays. You can view or edit an essay, leave notes on it and mark it approved. Students will not see points assigned to the essay in this program, but if you assign points to it they will be able to see that it has been read and they have received credit for completing the assignment.
Why are the Ripples and Reflections not showing total points earned on completion?
While it is possible to turn on points tallying on the Ripples and Reflections, for the Pilot Program we were asked to leave off points and grades, as the goal is to foster thought and understanding before you cover materials in the classroom. You will be able to see what Lessons have been undertaken by each student in your Dashboard, and you can read and annotate the answers to Reflections written by your students in your Dashboard as well.

What are Quidbits?
Quidbits are tidbits about quid, or money, from around the world. The section does not include Reflections or Ripples, and will be added as often as we run across unique facts, so students something fun and interesting to check out.
